The Royal British Legion

Paris Branch

Event :

The Paris Branch joined up with the French association Mémoire et Espoirs de la Résistance (MER) on 23rd April to lay wreaths at the statues in Paris of Sir Winston Churchill and Général Charles de Gaulle.

The MER party was led by their Président, Dr François Archambault, himself the son of a Résistant in Touraine. The ceremony was followed by a Reception at the Clubhouse.

A number of our French guests had served in Britain during the Second World War, many joining the Free French forces, and their first-hand accounts of that period made it a memorable evening.
