The Royal British Legion is a charitable organisation well known all over Britain and the English-speaking world. It is very present in France with a number of branches as you can see in the navigation bar on the left. Curiously, we can even claim that the RBL existed in France before it existed in England (for more on this see Paris Branch).

FRANCE

Home Page

If anything, the number of branches and membership is increasing in this country, perhaps with the influx of retired British subjects who are making their home here, fascinated, as so many of us are with a country which has shared so much history with our own (on one side or the other)

As elsewhere, the RBL in France welcomes new members whether ex-service or not, British nationality, French, or any other. The organisation is a natural focus for those interested in the history of Europe and, of course the welfare of those who have served in the British Armed Forces. It is perhaps worth remembering that amongst such ex sevicemen figure citizens of a good number of countries outside the British Isles. The Royal British Legion in France is proud to count some of them amongst its members.

We hope that the information available here will help potential new members contact the nearest Branch and, for those already members, provide an overview of RBL activities in France. Picture: Oil "Flander's Fields" RBL Paris
