Princess Anne visits Valençay to meet S.O.E. survivors.
In 2008 Princess Anne decided to meet and to thank British and French S.O.E. survivors.
The event took place at the Château de Valençay on 6 may 2008.
Our member Joseph Sigward informs us that it was a moving occasion and Princess Anne was, as always, kind, appreciative, and displayed her gentle sense of humour. (To complete the picture, it should be added that he comments with equal enthusiasm on the "Homeric" buffet and the whisky and champagne which flowed, apparently, in rivers...)
Joseph has always been proud of having been a 16 year-old recruit to the British Army in occupied France and he adds that the Princess's thanks will remain, for him, an unforgetable moment.
Why are the bodyguards looking at JS so suspiciously?
